OUR NAN
The kettle was always on,
The heating full blast,
warm and cosy at last.
Chocolate cake,
A fridge full of treats
Nothing could beat.
We never had to lift a finger,
You always let us rest,
You really were the best.
Fish and chips
your favourite meal,
That was the real deal.
Just a cup of tea
1 sweatner please,
Then you would tell us about your knees and that wheeze.
Strong willed,
You would never back down,
Even if others would frown.
Whatever we needed, it could be found in your bag.
A plaster, a mint, an old chewy sweet,
We can hold onto these memories until we can again meet.
You made us laugh,
You certainly made us cry,
But now its time to say goodbye.
Our nan,
A mum,
A sister and friend,
Sleep easy, and we promise to keep you close and forever in our hearts.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
